We offer one-to-one tutoring for basic reading and writing skills to English-speaking adults free of charge on Oahu, Kauai, and the Kailua-Kona area of Hawaii

bookmobile

Our Bookmobiles travel from the Wai‘anae Coast to Kalihi-Palama and the surrounding areas of Honolulu, as well as South Kona and Oceanview. We provide families access to books, educational materials, and, hopefully, a lifelong love of reading and learning. We visit after-school programs, affordable housing developments, transitional housing, and shelters to serve the community. During the summer, we also stop at various Summer Fun sites.

Family literacy libraries

The Family Literacy Program consists of two libraries and community centers that are available to all residents of Kuhio Park and Mayor Wright Homes. At the libraries, children can borrow books and access homework help and tutoring to improve their reading and language skills. Additionally, there are English classes, digital literacy workshops, and financial literacy workshops for parents and adults to support their learning and personal development.

Hawaii Literacy offers free classes for adults in English and gaining language skills related to real-life situations. Our program is designed to be an open environment supporting anyone needing assistance from a variety of skill levels, backgrounds, and commitment levels. Students may come as needed, or on a consistent basis. Services are available for speakers of all abilities - from beginners to advanced.
